During Lenten Season

3/20/23 - Offered by Sonya Dumanian

During this Lent Season, We thank you Jesus for bearing our grievances and our sins. It is our privilege to bring our sorrows to you in prayer. We pray to you God to help us attain peace and help us forfeit needless pain.

Dear Lord, we bring our trials and temptations to you to help us overcome them. You know our every weakness and troubles. We pray for your help to accept them and help us overcome them. God, You are our refuge and our comfort, we find our comfort and refuge in your words, the ASDVADZASHOUNCH. (The Bible.)

We thank you for our families, for our children, please protect them. Our Lord You are like a wing that shelters and protects our children. We also thank you for Der Vazken, the spiritual leader of our Bible Study group. He makes the Bible more approachable to us and make our church more relevant and applicable to/in our lives. And we also thank you Lord for our Bible Study Family, we pray for the health and the wellbeing of all. Amen

St. Christopher's Life Prayer

3/13/23 - offered by Sousanna Pogosyan

‘Life’ Prayer

by St. Christopher

Father, grant that I may be a bearer of Christ Jesus, Your Son.
Allow me to warm the often cold,
impersonal scene of modern life with Your burning love.
Strengthen me by Your Holy Spirit
to carry out my mission of changing the world
or some definite part of it for the better.
Despite my lamentable failures,
bring home to me that my advantages
are Your blessings to be shared with others.
Make me more energetic in setting right
what I find wrong with the world instead of complaining about it.
Nourish in me a practical desire to build up
rather than tear down,
to reconcile instead of polarize,
to go out on a limb rather than crave security.
Never let me forget that it is far better to light one candle
than to curse the darkness,
and to join my light, one day, with Yours. Amen.

Prayer for the Week

3/6/23 - offered by Lida Ananian

Dear Father as I enter another week of my Lenten journey, guide me to the path that leads to you. Fill my heart with gratitude, patience, strength, and peace as I strive to become the-best-version-of myself, honestly admitting my shortcomings and sins.

As I renew my resolve each day to become a better person, let me hear your voice in the deepest reaches of my heart. Give me rest in you. Help me to accept others, showing them your great love instead of casting judgment. Stay with me through the busy days this week and remind me that when I need comfort, solitude, wisdom, or guidance, I can always turn to you. Help me develop discipline and generosity through fasting and almsgiving, and come closer to you through prayer this lent. In your name I pray.

Amen.

Entering into Lent

2/13/23 - Offered by Susan Movsesian

Jesus, God our Father, out of His love for us gave us You, so we may know Him more fully.

You have always loved us, and have known the most elated realm of our most joyful dreams. You also have known the darkest corners of our lowest of low moments.

You know us as Your beloved…

As we enter this season of Lent let us embrace the solid foundation of our Christian identity. During this journey as we PRACTICE repentance, having mercy and focusing on Your light, let our eyes be open to see the endless love You have for each of us.

May our hearts feel the assurance of Your deep and unwavering FAITH in us.

Let our relationship with You, be in focus, beyond this season of discipline, by practicing love and compassion with each new day throughout the year.

Lord grant us strength in faith and faith in action. Especially with all that is happening in the world today, let our faith guide us in all things.

Have mercy upon Your creatures and upon me, a great sinner.

Amen

A Prayer for Peace

Lord Jesus Christ, You are the true King of peace, in You alone is found freedom...

Please free our world from conflict. Bring unity to troubled nations...

Dispel all darkness and evil. Protect the dignity of every human life...

Give wisdom to world leaders. Free them from selfish ambition.

Grant us the wisdom to care for the earth and till it.

Help us to act now for the good of future generations and all your creatures.

Prayers by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

This evening we looked at a few prayers of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. while discussing the theme "Maturity of Faith"

We Are Made for That Which Is High and Noble and Good'

O God, our gracious heavenly Father, we thank thee for the inspiration of Jesus the Christ, who came to this world to show us the way. And grant that we will see in that life the fact that we are made for that which is high and noble and good. Help us to live in line with that high calling, that great destiny. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

"Grant Us Visions That Shall Lift Us"

O God our eternal Father, we praise thee for gifts of mind with which thou hast endowed us. We are able to rise out of the half-realities of the sense world to a world of ideal beauty and eternal truth. Teach us, we pray Thee, how to use this great gift of reason and imagination so that it shall not be a curse but a blessing. Grant us visions that shall lift us from worldliness and sin into the light of thine own holy presence.

Through Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

"Ain't Gonna Let Nobody Turn Us Around"

Almighty God, Thou has called us to walk for freedom, even as Thou did the Children of Israel. We pray, dear God, as we go through a wilderness of State Troopers that Thou will hold our hand. We pray, dear God, as we must go through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, that Thou will go with us and strengthen us for the task. Keep us strong. Keep us calm. Help us to love our enemy. And above all, keep the fires of freedom burning in our hearts, so that no matter what happens, ain't gonna let nobody turn us around.

Because Thou, dear God, has sent us into this place. Thou has sent us to fight, not just for ourselves, but to fight for this nation so that democracy might exist here for the whole world. Keep this vision in our hearts, and may we one day wake up and find the state of Alabama, where all men might vote, where all children might get a decent education, where every man and woman might have a job according to his (or her) abilities, and where every man and woman might live together as brothers, and violence and bloodshed and hatred and prejudice shall be no more. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.

"We Thank Thee for Our Foreparents"

Oh God, our gracious, heavenly Father, we thank Thee for the creative insights in the universe. We thank Thee for the lives of great saints and prophets in the past, who have revealed to us that we can stand up amid the problems and difficulties and trials of life and not give in. We thank Thee for our foreparents, who've given us something in the midst of the darkness of exploitation and oppression to keep going.

And grant that we will go on with the proper faith and the proper determination of will, so that we will be able to make a creative contribution to this world and in our lives. In the name and spirit of Jesus we pray. Amen.

"But Lord, I Must Confess That I'm Weak Now"

Lord, I'm down here trying to do what's right. I think I'm right. I think the cause that we represent is right. But Lord, I must confess that I'm weak now, I m faltering, I m losing my courage, and I can't let the people see me like this because if they see me weak and losing my courage, they will begin to get weak.
